NFC Cassette Player

I designed this NFC cassette player to interface with an Alexa speaker system as an alternative way to send commands to play music.
Design
The design is made up of 3 main mechanical components, the first of which is the case that holds all the electronics and mechanical elements, it was designed to interlock with a modular under monitor desk organiser I designed in a previous project.

The second component is the eject mechanism this acts as a button to remove the cassette. It is designed as a print in place mechanism meaning no assembly after 3d printing was required. This involves 2 racks interfacing via an increased gear ratio and reset by a spring

The final component is the cassette gripper this was also a print in place mechanism which improved the tactile experience of inserting the cassette so that it was much closer to mimicking the feel of a real cassette player.
Powered by USB the electronics consisted of a simple ESP-32 connected to an NFC reader this on receiving a designated NFC card pings a corresponding web address that triggers an Alexa routine on the device.
Outcome
This was successfully 3d printed assembled and integrated into my desk organiser.
